3.2.1 Ion Irradiation
The ion irradiation in accelerators cannot trace all the features of radiation defects behavior, but this approach is widely used in the current experimental practice thanks to its economic and operative advantages in comparison with the so-called reactor experiments.
The presented data convincingly indicate that practically in all studied materials, such as metals, alloys, steels, intermetallic compounds, and oxides, prepared by various nanotechnology methods, the nanostructures turned out to be more resistant to ion irradiation compared to the microstructures in their traditional CG counterparts.
It must be marked that the studies of the ion irradiation influence on the NMs structure and properties offer contradicted experimental results, and thus scientists come up against complex and non-ordinary problems requiring modern techniques or combination of the available ones.
Such estimations can be important for analysis of changes in the NMs properties under an ion irradiation.
